Saints’ Michael Thomas Trolls Redskins’ Josh Norman After Blowout Win

The New Orleans Saints defeated the Washington Redskins 49-13 on Monday, moving to 4-1 on the season as Drew Brees surpassed Peyton Manning as the all time leader in career passing yards.

New Orleans received plenty of production from a handful of players on Monday, and leading wideout Michael Thomas had a field day with four catches for 74 yards. After the game, Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman said he didn’t want to “waste his breath” in talking about Thomas.

The latter then replied with a pair of savage tweets.

Norman was benched for the second half by head coach Jay Gruden, as the prized 2016 million free agent acquisition (five years, $75 million), continues to struggle in the early stages of 2018. Norman and the Washington defense did almost nothing to slow down Brees or New Orleans’ elite running game, which contributed to the ugly loss.

Thomas and Norman continued their Twitter beef for a while, but the latter eventually deleted his tweets. Thomas then threw in one last shot at Washington’s cornerback, before the war seemingly came to an end.

Norman is now in his third year with the Redskins, who sit at 2-2 but lead the NFC East. The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles both sit at 2-3 following close defeats on Sunday, while the New York Giants are virtually out of the race at 1-4.

As for Thomas, he and the Saints sit comfortably at 4-1, good for second in the NFC behind only the 5-0 Los Angeles Rams. Thomas already had 519 receiving yards on the season, and looks destined to reach 1,000 yards for the third consecutive year. He and Brees have simply been an unstoppable duo since the former broke into the NFL two years ago.

Norman has been solid, but not great since joining the Redskins in 2016. The team is trying to end a three-year playoff drought, and they need their expensive corner to do less trash talking and more Pro Bowl-caliber playing on the field.
